~It’s Essential~
Welcome to my series about Essential Oils!
I am so excited to be able to share my love for essential oils with everyone! Essential oils, therapeutic or food grade are amazing items to have on hand. These oils can do wonderous things for the body! Essential oils are great for overall health and wellness. Something as simple as taking a few deep breaths of Bergamot can have a calming and soothing effect. Helichrysum, when applied topically can help reduce the look of wrinkles, who doesn’t want that? From helping to relieve stress, to headaches, stomach and digestive troubles, sciatica, eczema to bumps and bruises; essential oils can be used to improve everyday life. One very important thing to keep in mind is just because essential oils are natural does not mean they are harmless. Essential oils need to be used properly, with carrier oils, proper dilution and appropriate usage.
Essential oils can be used in so many different ways. Throughout this series I will spotlight a different oil for each post, some background on how the oil is distilled, usage, what each oil pairs well with, and some of my favorite DIY recipes!
When purchasing essential oils be very careful about the purity of oils. Some oils are not therapeutic grade and might not be safe for using on skin or ingesting. Essential oils can be ingested, but only specific ones and even then, you must be very careful. You always want to check with your doctor before starting any regimen.
Some of my favorite companies to buy essential oils from are DoTerra, Young Living, and Mountain Rose Herbs. DoTerra and Young Living each sell both single and proprietary essential oils blends as well as a ton of other all- natural products. Mountain Rose Herbs is like one of the best places to procure different oils, spices, teas, carrier oils, butters, wax, really almost anything you could need for the DIYer. One word of caution, don’t purchase DoTerra or Young Living Essential Oils from Amazon. The purity of those oils, coming from a third party are not guaranteed.
Stay tuned for my first Essential Oil spotlight post!
